One Small Goal to Restart
Over the past four-five months, I’ve felt unsuccessful with my health goals. I gave up on my running and exercising goal (surprise) and apparently, it’s been weighing on me unconsciously. To get out my slump, I tried to replace the abandoned goal. However, I kept listing bigger goals, goals I should do, and bucket-list goals. The result? No goal was pursued and I remained frozen. This is the first lie that perfectionism tells you about goals: Quit if it isn’t perfect. ― Jon Acuff, Finish While pondering my dilemma for a few weeks, I kept noticing and trying to maintain the little streak counter on my Headspace app. The app…
The Ultimate Mother’s Day Gift Guide: 5 Ways to Make Her Feel Seen
Mother’s Day is about one thing: recognition. Regardless of how the day is structured, every mom wants to feel seen for the invisible, constant labor she pours into the family. Whether the date has passed or you’re just “late to the game,” the best gift isn’t necessarily a physical object; it’s the message that you notice and appreciate her. Here is a guide to showing her love, tailored to the five love languages. 1. Acts of Service: Give Her Time Back The most precious commodity for a mom is time. These gifts remove a burden from her plate. 2. Quality Time: Undivided Attention She doesn’t want to spend the day…
Would I recommend you to join a membership site?
We can all use a little accountability from time to time. Let me share how I ended up joining the membership site, Rocking Productivity Academy. This time last year I was wondering if I had what it took to get anything crossed off my new years’ checklist. I had three vague goals: post more often on my website, exercise consistently and read one book a month. It was October 2016 and I had made progress on the last two goals. I had barely touched my website all year. It wasn’t being addressed because I was lacking skill, but rather because I kept letting perfection get in the way. I was…
6 Years to Get Consistent
Why did it take me 6 years to finally blog, consistently? Well, because when you don’t believe in your own voice, it’s pretty hard to imagine that others will. I’ve been blogging off and on for even longer than 6 years. I first found out about “online journals” when I was in 9th grade. Yeah, I was sheltered. I knew about websites but I didn’t know that people posted their “journals” online so other people to read and comment. I thought it was rather strange. Isn’t a journal meant to be private?
You Don’t Have to Know Everything to Start
Have you ever thought of an idea and then said: “I’ll get started on this when I have time to really focus on it.” Or perhaps you had an ok start but you ended up telling yourself, “Looks ok, but it needs more work. I’ll work more on it later.” Well, that’s been me for too long. For example, this post came as an idea that I save on Dec 6, 2016, and was in my drafts folder for six months before completing it. Yikes! But why? I could list a series of impediments but ultimately here are my two main reasons. Let me know if you can relate.
