My Honest Amazon Prime Day Haul Experience: From Impulse to Intentional Shopping

If you’re looking for a practical Amazon Prime Day strategy that focuses on intentional shopping rather than impulse buys, you’re in the right place. I used to approach Prime Day like most people—buying expensive gadgets just because they were discounted. But my perspective has completely shifted toward strategic Prime Day shopping that solves real problems. Now I see it as an opportunity to get good deals on practical items I was already planning to buy as a mom.

My Prime Day Mindset Shift

The shift happened when I realized Prime Day had lost its excitement for me. I used to approach it with that Black Friday mentality—grabbing the flashy deals on high-tech gear and trendy items just because they had big discounts. But I kept finding myself browsing without actually buying anything, then realizing days after the sale ended that I’d missed opportunities on practical items I genuinely needed. This pattern of post-sale regret, where I’d end up buying necessities at full price, made me realize I needed a more proactive approach inspired by Stephen Covey’s “be proactive” principle.

Instead of waiting for sale hype to trigger my purchases, I started maintaining a running list of items I’d actually use. The real test came with practical needs like rechargeable batteries I’d been putting off due to cost, or my toddler’s toothbrush that saved me a trip to the store. Some items, like extension cords, became consistent needs in my household—the kind of thing you always seem to need but never think to buy on sale. Over time, I noticed these lower-ticket practical items consistently moved from my list to my cart faster than the shiny, expensive temptations.

This is a low production video, and I just want to briefly show you what I got in my latest Amazon Prime Day hauls. Not to brag or anything, but I just wanted to provide a new perspective on how you can think of Amazon Prime Day.

Instead of looking at it the way that I used to look at it as just another sale day to buy things you don’t need and expensive stuff, look at it as being strategic with things that you know you’re already going to be buying and how to get a good deal out of that.

I’m going to cover just a couple of basic things and tell you about some of these newer things. These two are rechargeable lithium ion battery charger sets. One’s for Double-A and one’s for Triple-A. I’m actually going to be testing them and providing a full video later down the road. I’m not sure if I want to be doing a full video on these Anker products. So let me know in the comments if you’d be interested in that.

These are extension cords. This connects your traditional USB-A so it actually has two connections. If you’re looking at every Amazon Prime Day sale and you’re thinking, “Man, I don’t want to spend a lot of money, but I do need some stuff.” Then I think considering a useful list or a list that is more practical will probably actually save you money in the long run as long as you have a budget.

I have one from July linked below. If you’re looking for an Amazon guide video that’s going to show you how to save some money along the way or show you interesting useful products, hit subscribe and hit the notification bell.

For us the end consumer, I think it’s also a good opportunity for us to kind of really think about, okay, “I have X amount of money, what do I want to spend it on wisely?” And so although you might not think “Wow, extension cords are really on the top of my list”—I am actually very excited to try this product because it’s called Anker; that’s very popular on Amazon.

I’ve been testing it for a little while now, and I’m very satisfied with the results so far that I’ve come across. I just wanted to encourage you that you don’t have to spend a lot of money during the sale events, but to use it to your advantage.

For example, I would have not typically bought these battery charger sets, but I’d been running into a problem where I needed lithium ion batteries, and they are so expensive so I searched around and I waited until the sale happened so that I could buy them.

This gives you the opportunity to find different solutions, to try different things that you normally wouldn’t do, but also to do it on a budget. For example, my toddler needed a new toothbrush. I went through this whole thing of looking at all the different toothbrushes—I decided that I want to try something different because it would save me a trip down the aisle and I just needed something simple and straightforward.

I hope that this encourages you and that you look at Amazon Prime Day in a different light. Who knows, maybe you will buy things that you need that won’t be on sale normally like cleaning gloves, or you’ll buy something that’s a little bit more exciting for yourself. I’ll link everything below and you have a great day! Please consider liking and subscribing. Any questions drop them in the comments. There is also a blog post with this product that goes into details. You can check out the PDF version of these items. And I will see you in the next video.
